3 thing i love conbine in 1

I was in facebook procrastinating (as always) and came up with a video that a friend shared. I was courios, so I clicked it. And I was fascinated.

If you don’t know me, I will tell you why it was so amazing for me.

Even thou I’m Jewish, I have this thing for Greek Mythology. I’m addicted to it.
As a good girl, I’m a die-hard fan of Disney, at the point that I still cry when Muffasa dies or when Andy gives away all his toys (yes, the movie came like 2 years ago. Now you get me?)

And finally, Salvador Dali. My addiction to him started in 4th grade where we saw his story in art class and I loved his crazy art, his love for Gala, and his weird fun mustache.

So now, you can realize how happy I was when I found this video made by Dali and Disney about Greek Mythology (It’s about Chronos, and his struggle because he desires a mortal.

Here it is, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did

Time of my Life

Imagine waking up every day at 6:30 A.M, and the breakfast is served at 7 sharped. You can’t go to the dining room before that time because you might lose your free time because you are not respecting the schedule. You share a bathroom with other 2 girls so you need to wake up at least 5 minutes before so you can pee in peace and use the sink and brush your teeth. At 7:30 the bus leaves, and if you are not in it, you grab a taxi and go to the place where all your friends are going in a “free” way, but you are paying even thou your parent paid in advance for the bus ride.

Must of the days you go to a didactic museum, to Auschwitz and Tikochin, to Majdanek and Treblinka, to a university so you can see the campus, or to greek ruins, parks, or commemorative plazas. But other days, you go to the beach, to the mall, to a theme park, a shopping plaza with artist and clowns and people doing acts, or to a flea market (very famous) in the middle of the city. You try to get down the price, you fight with the seller, and at the end, you safe 5 bucks on your buy.   You also go to amazing places to eat, and to concerts, to carnavals, to the theater and to Mayumana.

Now, imagine doing all that for 42 days, with all your friends, your friends since you were in kindergarten.  Imagine being a toddler and see your cousin packing his or her suitcase to this trip, and then your older brother goes, and then your neighbor, and after a month and a few weeks, they come back, happy as they never were, and they have a gazillion inside jokes with their friends, and they come with a bit of a belly because the food is delicious. And soon enough you understand how awesome is that trip and that you can’t wait other 12 years to go.

And those 12 years go by and is your time to go. You have talks in school about safety, about what to bring and about the places you are going to see.

Finally, the day comes, and you get in the plane without realizing that you are in THE trip. The moment you land, you do realize it, and your trip begins
Imagine that it finished 2 days ago, and instead of feeling homesick, you feel TRAVEL-sick

Family Reunion

Jewish Holidays are coming (Rosh Hashana which is our New Year, and Yom Kipur, our fast day and our time to ask for forgiveness and think about our mistakes). And for the first time in 10 years both my brothers are here to celebrate this time together!

The last time we were in the Rosh Hashana’s table together was 10 years ago, when I was in 1st grade, and now I’m a senior, which means that for all my school life I haven’t been with my entire family in the holidays.

I can’t find words to describe how I feel right now, I’m super happy!

I'M BACK

As you can see, it has been over a month (6 weeks to be exact) since I last posted. And why you may ask? I was in a trip with all my grade for 42 days.

This trip is the one you wait for since you are in kindergarten (my school is the same since kindergarten till 11th grade, so you are with the same people  12 years). So it finally came, and it ended yesterday.

Now, I’m alone in my room, without anyone to share a bathroom with (and fight because you want to be the first one who will use it), anyone that will “borrow” your clothes and give it back after two weeks or take your hair straightener without asking, and no schedule to follow because if the bus leaves you, you pay for your own taxi, which means less money in the free time to spend. And I seriously miss this!
This trip consisted in 42 days of learning, meeting new people,  that even thou you are in the same grade for a while, you never actually met them. 42 days of being always with somebody, and 42 days of knowing a new country.
It was the best trip EVER!

Ps: I will be posting about the trip and my experiences soon!

StumbleUpon

Remember when I said that Pinterest was so addicting and that I spend like 6 hours there? Guess who spend 5 hours on StumpleUpon today? Yes, that’s right. ME!
Since I became so addicted to Pinterest I decided to move to a new page, well, an old page that I used to use before my mean cousin introduce me to Pinterest (she is sweet, but thanks to her Pinterest has my soul).

And the worst part is that I don’t love StumbleUpon. I enjoy that I can procrastinate there, but seriously I don’t get how did I spent so much time there. I remember seeing this blonde, smoke smores cake (YUM!) and a DYI stuff, but the rest is like a blur. I CAN’T EVEN REMEMBER WHAT I SAW!

Then, since I realized that 4 hours of my life went by in StumbleUpon, I decided that it should be a good idea to watch funny videos on Youtube. Yes, funny, great idea!
An hour watching Jenna Marbbles (genious), another 30 minutes watching minions singing the Banana/Potatoe song, and then another 2 hours watching El Mostacho (Spanish speaking people only, sorry).

Why do I hate this so much you may ask? I’m actually having a blast doing this. The problem is when you have a trip that starts tomorrow and you are going away for a month without your parents and just friends? And you realize you forgot to do a lot of things. So now I’m supposed to do all of those things within an hour because my family and my best friend are coming to say goodbye and I really want to sleep!

Sweet Memories

Since I was little, my family and I buy pastries and sweetmeats in the same place. Each of the members in my family had their own sweetmeats. My big brother always ate a cake that was a small square, it was a layer of vanilla cake, a layer of chocolate cream, and another layer of cake, it was covered in chocolate and it had a small twist of cream in the top. We always fought for it, because it was his, but I loved that small cream twist. My other brother, the one in the middle, ate something that we call “milhoja”, Is a sweetmeats full of puff pastry with whipped cream and strawberry sauce, same as my mom. My dad ate a small basket (fist size) that had peach jelly and whipped cream in the shape of a cone, and it was covered in chocolate. An me, it was a cake in the shape of a triangle, in was a layer of chocolate cake, a layer of cream, a layer of cake…. And just the edges were covered in chocolate. All this sweets were small, so don’t picture a fat sweet tooth family.

My mom heard on TV that on people do parties when the first period arrives, so when mine did, she bought all those sweets that we love. When I ask her the occasion she told me “a silent party, we are the only ones who know about this” and then she winked. I celebrate an important moment with something that I love (besides my family.

This pastry shop closed more than 4 years ago, and I was devastated. Everytime I drive pass it I remember the taste of that 7 layer cake and the cream twist that I use to steal from my brother. And I drive pass it a lot, every Friday to be exact. Is in the way to my grandmother’s house.

A couple of weeks ago we went to my granma’s house and saw it open. I was so happy! So my mom and me went the next day to buy the things we always bought. But they didn’t have my 7 layer cake, or my brothers square cake, or my mom’s and brother’s milhojas, or my dad’s cream cone. They did had some of the pastries they used to. I was sad. I asked the lady that what happened and she told me that since is the second day they are open they don’t have many pastries, that I should come in a bit.

I did, I went after 2 weeks, because I asked my parents to buy some before my big trip tomorrow

I should explain. My school does a trip every year for senior or the soon-to-be seniors so we can see Israel and learn from it. This is the kind of things that you look up to since you were a toodler.

So we went to the pastry shop, bought our sweetmeats and enjoyed them. It was like living a memory. It was amazing,

My mom then told me “see? This sweetmeats are always there in an important part of your life, next year for your graduation!”. And I just smiled because I was happy, really happy!

Pinterest, again!

I became addicted to Pinterest! I spent 6 straight hours in this site!  SIX! Is like everything else that is important doesn’t matter anymore.

I see a board that is called “GEEK STUFF” and I spend like 30 minutes in it, repining everything and laughing at myself. Then, when I’m done in that board I look at the one that is called “MY STYLE”,  and another 20 minutes go by. After I’m done with the boards of this person, I see were her repins are from, go to one of those persons, and spend another 45 minutes in her/his boards!

And this is not even productive! Is taking all my time! I’m supposed to pack my suitcase, charge every electronic device, call my family to say goodbye, read “The Perks”, go out and meet friends. But I can’t do any of those things because someone decided to create Pinterest!

The deal is, that I love so much this site that I actually hate it! When I open a  GoogleChrome tab I have the most visited sites so I can just click it without typing anything, and what is the first thing there?! Yep, PINTEREST! Not even Facebook or this blog, but Pinterest!

Hey, I’m yellowwriter25, and I’m pinterholic.
